Penta-Ocean Construction Co., Ltd. is now celebrating its 120th anniversary since its founding in Kure City, Hiroshima Prefecture in 1896. Its initial business in marine civil works has significantly expanded to land civil works and building construction.

We have historical involvement in numerous and notable major projects in overseas, particularly the development and expansion of the Suez Canal, which serves as a milestone after our first venture in overseas business through the advisory service to the construction of the quay wall of the Goa Port in India in 1957. In 2014, we celebrated the 50th anniversary of the establishment of our Singapore Branch Office. As one of the world’s top players in coastal and waterfront engineering, we are now aiming to become a unique general contractor with a positive and progressive spirit.

Fortunately, the business environment surrounding the construction industry looks favorable both in Japan and overseas. In addition to the effect of Abenomics financial policy and growth strategy, the Tokyo Olympic and Paralympic games will be held mainly in coastal and waterfront areas, which belongs to our areas of expertise. We can therefore continue to expect steady construction investment in Japan. For the overseas market, we can also anticipate continued healthy investments infrastructure in Southeast Asia, especially in Singapore and Hong Kong.

Through our mid-term management plan (FY2014 to 2016), we are striving for operation expansion and reinforcement of the management foundation through taking advantage of aforementioned favorable opportunity in addition to good business turnover from 2015. As a result, we are expecting to reach a performance that surpasses our initial goal.

The structure of our International Business Unit whose business has been expanding, was reorganized in April of this year and relocated its headquarters in Singapore to comprehensively supervise and centrally coordinate all project operations in the overseas. We plan to promote further localization as well as globalization through which a concerted effort of foreign employees overseas and Japanese staff members may achieve desirable results.

Our mission is to affirmatively respond to the customers’ trust with solid safety and product quality, thereby contributing to society through advance technology. It is the combination of promoting innovative technology and highly-motivated people in order to realize this mission. We, therefore, are not only developing the potential strength of individuals, but also integrating this collective strength in order to become a company that can demonstrate comprehensive power across organizational boundaries. Our company has proclaimed March 30, the day on which a serious accident occurred on Okinotori Island in 2014, to be “Special Safety Day” and we will not only implement extensive safety inspection on all sites, but will reaffirm this mission every year.
